What do the error messages mean?
To get details about payroll update error messages:
Go to QuickBooks support.
In Search the Knowledge Base, select your QuickBooks product.
In Enter search terms, enter Troubleshooting payroll and QuickBooks update errors.
Click Troubleshooting payroll and QuickBooks update errors.
On the page that opens, click Payroll Update Errors.
Problems encountered while trying to get payroll updates are usually due
either to an inactive (or nonexistent) payroll subscription or an incorrect
Internet setup in QuickBooks.
If you know your Internet connection is working, follow these steps to
identify the problem:
Go to the Employees menu and click Get Payroll Updates.
Click here if the option isn't available from the Employees menu.
Try downloading your payroll updates again. If you are still not able to
update, continue to the next step.
Check your QuickBooks Internet connection setup:
Go to the Help menu and click Internet Connection Setup.
Select Use my computer's Internet connection settings, click Next, and
then click Done.
If the problems persist, try
QuickBooks' connection to the Internet.
